As Deputy Chief Engineer at the Colorado River District, Kanzer works on the complex web of water quality and quantity issues facing the Colorado River both within the State of Colorado and throughout the seven states that make up the entire Colorado River Basin system.

For more than 24 years, DK has focused on both large, regional long-term water supply planning studies for the Colorado River as well as smaller, local implementation programs to address aging irrigation infrastructure and diminishing supplies brought about by climate change. In the Lower Gunnison and Colorado Rivers, Kanzer is bringing funding to bear to promote water use efficiency projects, extending and improving water supplies, decreasing salinity and selenium loading while improving endangered species habitat.

Kanzer is a registered professional engineer in Colorado and he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Geological Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
